And now, a little about me

Welcome back, I can’t tell you how happy I am to see you back, especially if you’re
binge-reading. Not that I could replicate Netflix and release an entire blog season at once since I
have no idea where this is going. It’s more reality- than scripted-TV.
In this episode, you’ll get to know me a little better because I’m told by many other
author blogs I need to “connect” to my readers, but not in a way that would involve an
investigation by the House ethics committee.
In that spirit, the first thing you need to know is I like beer, and I mean in a Brett
Kavanaugh way. I fully admit to my passion, but my binge drinking days are way behind me
(although were never to the point of threatening my future career). The Pacific Northwest is a
gift to beer drinkers and has more quality breweries than Carter has liver pills (dated reference
meant to hint at my age rather than reveal my ancientness). My favorites? Breakside (Portland),
Fort George (Astoria) and Bend Brewing (yes, in Bend, home of the world’s only Blockbuster
Video, which looks like it sells way more merch than rents movies).
I live in Turner, Oregon in 400 square feet of living space I share with two dogs, a TV
and a Star Wars video-pinball machine (listed in order of importance, though the dogs lose top
billing when they have to go out in the rain, and it rains a lot). The limited shelf space is
dominated by Lego models, most of them the buildings that comprise the company’s version of
Main Street.
My wife Melissa lives in the tiny home next door with a dog and, I think, four or 10 cats,
to whom I am deathly allergic. The third tiny home on our lot is occupied by my mother-in-law, a
sweet woman with a dog and four or 10 cats. Yes, it’s a compound but without a firearm in sight,
or people united in the thought the world will end if and when the local water is fluoridated.

We moved here four years ago from … well, that’s another blog.
